Term 2

Welcome to Term 2.

We are back and working hard.

End of Term 1

Wow the term has just flown by!

It has been a long and busy term.  

Room 11 have been working hard and they have made some great progress with their learning.

We are very sad to say goodbye to 11 of our children who will be moving to a new class next term.

Thank you to all of the parents and whanau who have supported these learners and made their first term so successful.  

We wish them all the best for the rest of 2014.

The Letter Ee

This week we have been learning about the letter Ee.
We think that the little e is the hardest letter to write.
Today we went outside to practice writing e with chalk and paintbrushes and water.
Daniel was extra clever because he wrote our word of the week 'up'

Swimming

This term we have been able to go swimming everyday that we had enough people with their togs.
We have been learning to move safely and confidently in the water.

More super writers

This week we had more awesome writers take their work up to show Mrs Dawson. They are learning to find the words they need and to write all of the sounds they hear in new words.
Congratulations to Caress, Memory and Daniel.

Star Writers

This week we have 3 star writers who have taken their work up to share with Mrs Dawson.
They were able to stop, think and listen for the words and sounds they needed.
Great work Daniel, Tevita and Armani!

Story Writing in Room 11

Today at story writing time Room 11 were able to write a lot of the words by themselves.  The letters written in purple are the sounds that we were able to hear and tell Mrs Nathan.  The black letters are the ones Mrs Nathan had to write.  We think we are pretty clever for people who have only had four weeks at school!

Number 10

This week we are learning about the number 10.

"I have got 10 children." said Mrs Nathan.

"I have got 10 pencils." said Caress.

"I have got 10 sticks." said Armani.

"I have got 10 blocks." said Jamie.

"I have got 10 teddy bears." said Tauroa.

"I have got 10 lego blocks." said Memory.

"I have got 10 counters." said Marley.

"I have got 10 oranges." said Tausiva.

"I have got 10 little blocks." said Mary.

"I have got 10 dice." said Daniel.

Mokopuna's visit

Today at maths time we had some visitors.
8 lovely children from Mokopuna came for a preschool visit.
We hope that they will come and be in Room 11 when they are 5.

Welcome to Room 11 2014

Welcome to Room 11 2014!
We have made a great start to the year.  There are currently 15 new children in Room 11 and they are all very excited to be at school and learning together.

A reminder for parents we are a sun safe school which means children need to have a hat each time they are outside.

We will be starting swimming next week.  We will swim everyday so children will need to have their togs and a towel in a plastic or swimming bag. It would be a great idea to name each item of clothing as they are easily lost.

If there is anything you would like to discuss with Whaea Maeva or Mrs Nathan please come and meet with us before or after school.

Prize Giving

On December the 4th we had our Junior School Prize Giving.

We dressed up like reindeer.

Congratulations to Bella and Hale who won our class prizes.  

It was very hard for Mrs Nathan and Whaea Maeva to just choose two people. 

Caszius won a prize for Maths and Bella won a Reading prize for being the best in Year 0.

We are so proud of their achievements.

A visit from King Homeboy

On Tuesday King Homeboy came to visit.  He told us all about the history of Beat boxing and about learning how to beatbox.

He is the New Zealand Champion Beatbox and is able to make some amazing sounds with his voice!

Halloween disco

At lunchtime today we had a Halloween disco.

Matauri was Spiderman

 Jono was Superman.

Athletics Day

Today it was athletics day.  

We all had to run 100 meters.

We ran as fast as we could.

Braeden came third in his race

Temweyne and Logan were third and fourth

Leytton was second in his race

That meant they had to run again in the finals.

It was a great morning!

Jump Rope For Heart Day

Last Friday we had Jump Rope for Heart.  It was our turn after lunch.

We were put into groups and we moved around the different activities on the court and in the Whare.

We had to jump and skip all afternoon.

We were very very tired at home-time.
